The EBASS (Elite Bass Alliance Series) kicks off on a brown swollen Vaal River
By Chad Anassis
Team PS Honda Marine pulled away 4th virtue of our year-end finishing place from 2013. After a slogging match with the elements we managed a mid table 26th placing. The league has 58 teams competing this year with some really big names joining the catfight! By the looks of things this one’s gonna be a tough season but one that the PS Honda team intends on winning.
The March tournament was held at Rust de Winterdam, 80 kms north of Pretoria. This is a smallish impoundment that doesn’t handle pressure well. Barry Devinish, my fishing partner of three years, now decided he would throw a horny toad over the vast lilly patches the whole day and I would pitch all the holes in the matt.
At day’s end our strategy paid off with team PS Honda achieving a solid third placing and with Barry getting the biggest fish of the day. Not too bad considering there were over 110 anglers taking part.
Up and running now in the EBASS, the team has slotted into 12th on the log after the two tournaments and are only a mere 2 kilograms from the Top 5.
As for the 250 Honda, well, it’s now into its second season and it’s magnificent to say the least. Smooth, quiet, quick and fuel efficiency are some of the attributes really coming to the fore now. Besides the cost savings I’m experiencing I can’t imagine being on any other outboard than a Honda, so many thanks to Honda Marine.
The next tournament takes place on the 5th April 2014 at Makolo Dam near Lephalale, Limpopo.
